Fitness is extremely important for every aspect of life. Therefore, nowadays every celeb and sportsperson is constantly active on social media regarding health issues. Recently, cricketer, Virat Kohli has stepped up his fitness game by giving a form of strength training called ballistic and banded jump. He is seen doing this in a video shared on Instagram by his coach Nick Webby. Ballistic training and banded jumps help sportsmen to build stamina and increase body balance. Let's know about these two fitness training.

Ballistic Training: Increase energy and stamina

Ballistic training involves throwing the weight and jumping with it. It helps athletes to imitate the playing environment such as in the case of cricket, basketball and tennis where one needs to accelerate to throw an object back immediately. According to a 2008 study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, one can increase their strength by adding some ballistic exercises to their training program. Unlike traditional strength training, where you can focus on only one muscle at a time, ballistic exercises involve working on different muscles simultaneously. These not only use the power produced in the core to train the body but also help it to pass throughout the body including hands or feet, which can help in performing well in sprinting, throwing, kicking.

Benefits

  • For the players, it mainly helps in balancing meditation and strength.

Banded Jumps

Kohli can be seen doing banded jumps, also known as banded side-jumps. This is known as a way to develop velocity to increase the speed of the legs. By pulling the band next to him (on his jump), the legs help to develop more strength faster. The main component is to harness the power of gravity to propel the body towards each jump. Band-assisted jumpers can be incorporated into daily routines in many ways, including before a training session or after a dynamic warm-up. They help enhance athletic ability. Besides, it also increases the ability to burn fat.

How to do this?

  • As long as the band is taut, keep walking next to it but do not spread it.
  • Spread a little more than the distance of about hip-width.
  • To start, rotate your body in vigorous motion.
  • Try and get into an athletic position with the weight to help the resistance of the band you are trying to pull.
  • Finally, pay attention to strength training while taking care of your breath speed.
