Try These 7 Free Skincare Practices To Get Glowing Skin This Winter Season

Glowing, radiant and spotless skin is something that we all aspire for. Spending thousands bucks on expensive skin care products and spa sessions might not help you in getting that youthful glow but will surely burn a hole in your pocket. From an inactive lifestyle, improper hygiene habits and poor diet, all of this can result in damaging the skin. This damage can be as mild as a small pimple to as severe as a cystic acne. During winters these issues tend to worsen due to the extreme weather conditions and lack of moisture.

As taking care of your skin during chilli winter becomes more important, here are 7 skincare practices that one can follow to get a radiant glow, that too for free.

#1. Removing Makeup Before Bedtime

We understand your love for makeup and how you want the most out of every penny spent on it, but keeping it on overnight can result in zits and blocked pores. Skipping on this step can cause a lot of damage to your skin. Our skin tends to renew and replenish itself during the night time. By keeping your makeup on, you prevent that from happening. As most of the makeup products are made with oil based ingredients, it tends to clog your pores that leads to more acne breakouts and blackheads. Double cleansing your skin in order to remove those layers of makeup before bedtime is an essential skin care practice. This step makes sure that there is no make up residue on your skin.

Use a makeup remover or micellar water to remove your make up and follow by a moisturizing face wash. Pat dry your face with a soft towel and apply some moisturizer on top.

#2. Disinfecting your Phone

Including this in the list of skincare habits might sound a bit awkward but is something really important. As you carry your phone everywhere, bacteria first tends to get collected on its surface. Where this bacteria is not visible to the naked eyes, it can cause a lot of skin problems. The bacteria accumulated on the screen of your phone when it comes in contact with our skin results in itchy red bumps, rashes, pimples, breakouts, blackheads and even blisters.

In order to avoid all these issues make sure to disinfect your phone from time to time. Turn off your cell and remove the case, Clean it using a non-absorbent cloth. Lightly mist a towel with a disinfectant and use it to clean your phone and case. It is recommended to follow this practice on a daily basis.

#3. Changing Pillow Covers

We all love to sleep on those soft and comfortable pillows for a good night's sleep. Where choosing the right kind of pillow depending upon your body type is a great task, keeping it clean is also important. Changing your pillowcase every week and keeping them clean is one of the most important skin care practices. Bacteria, dirt and debris often tends to get collected over the pillowcases. When these particles come in contact with your skin, they tend to clog your pores and result in acne breakouts and blackheads.

Make sure that you change your pillowcase and wash it properly every weekend in order to get rid of all these particles and oil accumulated on it.

#4. Exercising

Sitting behind the computer screen all day long is not going to do any good to your body and skin. An inactive lifestyle leads to various issues such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, several types of cancers, cardiovascular diseases and even depression. With that being said, one another factor that gets affected due to lack of physical activity is the visibility of early signs of aging. Indulging yourself into exercises and following a workout routine can help one in improving the blood circulation and providing more oxygen to the skin.It also helps to increase the collagen production which helps in delaying the signs of aging such as fine lines, sagging skin and wrinkles.

Engage yourself into some or the other physical activities such as walking, jogging, swimming, playing badminton or cycling. These activities will not just help you to get a glowing skin but will also help you to get your body in shape and prevent some serious diseases.

#5. Quit Alcohol

Not just a free skincare habit but something that can save you tons of money. Consumption of alcohol has a direct relation with dilating the skin pores. This dilation leads to the occurrence of whiteheads and blackheads. If not treated properly, this problem can alleviate further and lead to skin papules inflammation. Not just this but early aging of skin is a long term side effect of alcohol consumption. Alcohol is a solution that also leads to dehydration of the skin and as the winter hair already lacks moisture, it can make your skin dull and flaky while reducing your cell turnover.

#6. Stay Hydrated

Water is essential for all forms of life. Staying hydrated helps in the proper functioning of various organ systems. Where dehydration or lack of adequate amounts of water in the body affects the entire system, skin is something that faces its ill effects at first. With our skin being a secondary organ, in the situation of lack of water content in the body, it tends to draw the water from our skin. This leads to dry, flaky and dull skin with early signs of aging such as frown lines, wrinkles and saggy skin.

To avoid such skin problems, one must keep on drinking water after regular intervals to stay hydrated and keep the skin glowing.

#7. Healthy Diet

A wise man/woman one rightly said that “You are what you are”. This statement turns out to be quite accurate especially in the case of your skin. Consumption of unhealthy fatty food items such as packaged food, fatty food, sugar, refined grains, whey protein powders and fast food can lead to several skin issues. These food items tend to shoot up the insulin levels in the blood and lead to the occurrence of acne and blemishes. These food items also alter the hormonal levels in the body and lead to imbalance. The hormonal imbalance caused then results in various skin problems and damages the skin barrier.
