BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Purendra Bhasin is a renowned ophthalmologist and the Founder and Medical Director of Ratan Jyoti Netralaya Ophthalmic Institute & Research Centre, Gwalior, with over three decades of experience in eye care. He completed his MBBS and MS in Ophthalmology from G.R. Medical College, Gwalior, and subsequently earned fellowships in General Ophthalmology as well as Anterior Segment Microsurgery and Intraocular Lens Implantation from the prestigious Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai - where he was also honoured for imparting training to fellow eye surgeons in IOL surgeries. Over the course of his career, he has performed more than 25,000 Phacoemulsification surgeries, 35,000 cataract and intraocular procedures, and 12,000 additional anterior segment surgeries including paediatric IOL, glaucoma, keratoplasty, and squint correction. A true pioneer in Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Bhasin has introduced several landmark procedures to the region - including being the first to perform ICL (Phakic IOL) surgery, LASIK laser surgery, C3R treatment for keratoconus and corneal ectasia, and scleral-fixated IOL implantation. A nationally and internationally recognised speaker and researcher, Dr. Bhasin has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and contributed chapters to leading ophthalmic textbooks. He has received numerous prestigious awards for his contributions to clinical ophthalmology, research, and community service, and holds leadership roles in several major ophthalmic societies in India and abroad.
