1. Makeup Tools
If you are wondering how the makeup that helps you to cover those blemishes can be the reason behind their occurrence then here’s the answer. Using the same makeup tools such as brushes and sponges repeatedly, not cleaning them regularly, storing them in open spaces and using them for a prolonged period of time can actually be a reason behind your breakouts.

It is really important to keep your makeup tools clean and dry and to wash them after regular intervals as using dirty makeup tools means putting the bacteria right onto your face along with the makeup. As pimples love bacteria and by using these dirty brushes and sponges you are the one clogging the pores and causing the breakouts and hence if you are still using dirty tools then no one else but you are to be blamed for that acne prone skin.
2. Cleansing and Exfoliating

Don't get me wrong here as cleansing and exfoliating both are an important part of the skin care routine and would help you to achieve that healthy glowing skin but as we all know that everything is good and nice until it's in moderation but an access can be really harmful. Where cleansing and exfoliating is good for your skin but overdoing it can really be problematic for you and become a reason behind those breakouts. Cleansing being an important part of any skin care regime when done more times than required can be equally bad as not cleansing or washing your face. Over washing or over cleansing your face can strip away the oils from your skin to such an extent that it can break down the skin’s protective layer and cause flaky, dry, irritated and red skin.
Dr. Gurveen Waraich suggests that cleansing your face twice a day and exfoliating twice a week is sufficient and one should not go overboard.
3. Makeup Wipes
Raise your hand if you have removed your makeup using those makeup wipes/ wet wipes after coming in late and convinced yourself that you have cleansed it all. If you are someone who thinks that these makeup wipes are enough to remove all those layers of makeup from your skin, then you are still living inside a bubble and there’s no better time to burst it than now. Using makeup wipes is not a foolproof way to remove makeup as these wipes do not clean the skin thoroughly and some makeup residue might get left behind on your skin causing those pores to clog and turning into that stubborn acne.

No matter how convenient these makeup wipes might feel, get up and cleanse your face with a makeup remover or with the help of a face wash in order to get rid of all the makeup particles and residue on your skin in order to avoid acne.
4. Touching/ Picking/ Poking
Here we are telling you all for the gazillionth time not to touch your face repeatedly and restrain yourself from poking those pimples right away. Touching your face again and again can be a major reason behind those breakouts as your hands come in contact with so many different surfaces throughout the day and many of them might consist of some or the other kind of bacteria. Touching your face with the same dirty hands which are full of bacteria can be a lead cause contributing towards the growth of acne on your skin.

On one hand where repeatedly touching your face can cause acne, popping pimples can worsen it. When you try to squeeze, pick or pop a pimple it forces the pore debris deeper into the follicle, increases the chances of leaving behind acne scars and can also cause post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
5. Skipping Moisturizer
Skipping moisturizer just because you have oily skin is the greatest sin of all time. Moisturizer being an essential part of a skincare regime needs to be there even if you have oily skin with acne. As moisturizers help you to retain the hydration and moisture in your skin, not using them can either make your skin dry and irritated which would worsen your acne or your skin might react totally opposite to it and start over-producing oils as a reaction to dry skin.
