The pain and irritation in your eyes can be extremely irritating, especially if you are dealing with sore eyes. One or both eyes may feel gritty, sensitive, or weary, which can lead to discomfort. It can be caused due to several reasons, such as overexposure to the sun, electronic devices, cigarette smoke, and allergies. However, severe sore eyes can be due to an underlying condition such as conjunctivitis, dry eyes, or even glaucoma.

Aloe vera has several medicinal properties and can also be used to treat sore eyes. It can help reduce inflammation and aid in treating dry eyes. Take cotton balls and soak them in a mixture of aloe vera gel and cold water. Place the cotton balls over your eyes for about 10 minutes. 

Cold Compress

You may have heard about reducing eye bags and dark circles with the help of a cold compress. The same can be done to treat sore eyes as well. You can put a cold compress in your eyes for about five minutes two to three times a day to manage the condition. For better results, you can even place a tea bag as it has anti-inflammatory properties and is a powerful antioxidant.

Warm Compress

Similar to a cold compress, applying a warm compress is also beneficial to manage sore eyes. You can place a warm and damp cloth over your eyes. This will help soothe your eyes and help in stimulating tear production.

Castor Oil

You can even use eye drops that contain castor oil to help manage the irritation in your eyes by providing a soothing effect. According to a study published in the year 2019 in the journal Contact Lens and Anterior Eye, castor oil eye drops help alleviate dry eyes by thickening the lipid layer of the tear film. To attain the desired outcomes, apply it twice daily.

Take Rest

You should rest your eyes to avoid eye strain and prevent eye soreness. In addition, it is advisable to take frequent breaks while working on digital screens.
