Why is the right cooking method important?

Only a few foods items are meant to be eaten raw while most foods should be cooked properly and then eaten. It is a myth that cooking kills the nutrients of the food. The truth is that the right cooking technique should be followed to retain the nutrients. We have listed down 5 foods that are healthy but are mostly eaten wrongly.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain lycopene which is an excellent antioxidant. Lycopene protects the body from various diseases including cancer, tumors, heart attack, etc. We are often told that raw vegetables are more healthy as nutrients are destroyed when cooked. However, this is not true in the case of tomatoes. According to research, cooked tomatoes contain more lycopene as compared to raw tomatoes.

Garlic

The most beneficial element in white garlic as well as black garlic is allicin, which prevents various chronic illnesses such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes and heart diseases. This allicin gets activated when it is exposed to air. Therefore, adding garlic immediately after peeling is not suggested. Rather, you should chop it and keep it in the air for some time to activate allicin.

We all make a big mistake while eating kiwi. Most people throw away the peel before eating the kiwi but kiwi is a fruit that should be eaten with the peel. Even if you are making kiwi smoothie, add peels. The reason for this is that kiwi peels contain a lot of nutrients including folate and vitamin E.
