Dr Nidhi Dhawan, HOD (Dietetics), Saroj Superspeciality Hospital, New Delhi, explained, "The use of black pepper helps to overcome problems like malaria, tooth pain, colds and coughs, stomach gas, depression and even high blood pressure. If you eat it on an empty stomach, then black pepper together prevents blood clots and helps to control blood pressure."
Small in size but has many advantages
"Plenty of pepper benefits for the body," said Dr Nidhi Dhawan during a conversation with 'Onlymyhealth' about how pepper is beneficial for your overall health. There are benefits, but very few people are aware of it. It contains nutritious elements like calcium, iron, phosphorus, carotene, thyme. The piperine element found in it helps in digesting food and is also useful in curing many stomach diseases. It increases the secretion of hydrochloric acid found in the stomach so that digestion can be done better."

Pepper will control high blood pressure
It is said that if you drink half a spoonful of black pepper powder in 1 glass of water, it controls your blood pressure. On this, Dr K. S Kular states, "Piperine found in black pepper acts as a medicine. It can block calcium channels like a high blood pressure drug. Besides, it also helps control blood sugar, digestion. Black pepper is very useful in system strengthening, heart and bowel infections." You can consume black pepper from food to tea.

How to use black pepper?
- For stomach problems, you can consume half a teaspoon of black pepper and rock salt in a glass of buttermilk. Apart from this, you can also drink black pepper with raisins at night.
- You can add black salt and Carli pepper with lemonade. If you like, add black pepper and little sugar in a spoonful of ghee and eat it daily.
- For blood pressure, grind 5-6 black peppers in 1 glass of water and consume it.
