Have you seen one of the biggest collaborations of 2025? The Indian TV just witnessed it. We are talking about tech mogul and philanthropist Bill Gates’ special appearance in the popular Indian TV serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. He was seen talking to the show’s iconic character Tulsi Virani, played by Smriti Irani, over a video call. What’s more? They brought into focus some important topics on health. Let’s find out more.

What’s Happening: Bill Gates’ Cameo In Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi

In an episode of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, Tulsi aka Smriti Irani spoke to Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates over a video call. The call takes place after the show depicts how a video of Tulsi goes viral. In the video, she was seen at a baby shower. There, she was sharing health advice with an expectant mother. After Tulsi’s son posts the video and tags Gates, this fateful event takes place.

Tulsi says to Bill Gates: "We come together to bless a young expectant mother, we wish her lots of good health.” Then she goes on to say how we should tell women how important it is to look after their health, nutrition and diet. She adds that we should tell women to follow the doctors' instructions and go to a hospital for their delivery.

Gates and Tulsi are seen subscribing to the view that "when mothers are healthy, children thrive and the world can make significant progress".

How The Collab Brought Focus On Maternal Health

This season of the TV serial addresses certain social and women-centric topics. Bill Gates’ cameo intended to highlight the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s efforts in women’s and child care. Smriti Irani previously served as Union Minister for Women and Child Development. The actor also has a long history with Gates and his charity.

In an attempt to curb infant and maternal mortality, the Gates Foundation has been working for years with governments in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. These two northern Indian states have huge populations, and are also among the most disadvantaged regions.

There has been a major improvement in maternal and child healthcare in India. Yet, messaging on these topics is important to create awareness about these even more. This could be a probable reason for this collaboration.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was first launched in July 2000. It airs on Star Plus.
