How To Do?
Here's how you can do an overhead barbell jump squat:
Step 1: Hold a barbell weight and rest it in front of your chest, just below your neck. Hold it with an overhand grip slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
Step 2: With your back straight, core engaged, and feet shoulder-width apart, bend your knees and hips, lowering your body until your thighs are parallel to the ground.
Step 3: Push through your heels and jump as high as you can, extending your legs fully.
Step 4: Maintain your arms straight overhead throughout the jump.
Step 5: Control your descent and land softly on the balls of your feet, immediately moving into another squat and jump.
Overhead Barbell Lunges
Another explosive exercise that Samantha swears by is overhead barbell lunges, which help target your quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes while also engaging the core for stability. Here's how you can do overhead barbell lunges:
Steps 1: With your feet shoulder-width apart, hold the barbell in front of your chest with an overhand grip.
Step 2: With your core engaged, jump and take a large step forward with one leg, lowering your hips until both knees bend at 90-degree angles. Simultaneously extend your arms overhead, keeping the barbell in a straight line with your torso.
Step 3: Ensure that your front heel is flat on the ground and your back heel is slightly lifted.
Step 4: Push yourself back up to the starting position, bringing your back leg forward and lowering the barbell back down to your shoulders. Repeat the lunge on the other leg.
