Aam Aadmi Clinics a Boon For Punjab's Healthcare System: Making Healthcare Accessible To Everyone

In Punjab, Aam Aadmi Clinics have transformed the landscape of public health care. These clinics were inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on August 15, 2022 and have rapidly gained people's confidence. Today, anyone in Punjab can walk into an Aam Aadmi Clinic and receive high-quality healthcare at no charge or at a very low cost. In a very short period of time, these clinics have transformed the narrative of healthcare in the state.
Presently, as of October 2025, there are operational 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics in the state, out of which 316 are in the urban and 565 in rural areas.Till date, these clinics have treated over 4.20 crore patients and provided diagnostic tests to more than 80 lakh patients free of cost. Approximately 73,000 patients get treatment in these clinics daily, and most interestingly, 54 percent of them are women — indicating increasing participation by women in health services.

In all, each clinic provides 107 types of free medicines and 47 types of diagnostic tests. The patient satisfaction rate is incredibly high: 98 percent of the patients reported that they received all their prescribed medicines directly from the clinic. Also, out of 4.20 crore patients, 2.7 crore returned for follow-up treatment, reflecting the public’s trust and the high quality of care offered.

In fact, these clinics have helped people save collectively nearly ₹2,000 crore in healthcare expenditure. Every clinic is networked through an IT-enabled system, so the entire registration, consultation, testing, and prescription are completely digital.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, "It is a testimony to our resolve to make the health of people the top priority." Today, Aam Aadmi Clinics are not mere treatment facilities but have become indicators of a healthy Punjab, where the common citizen is getting medical treatment with dignity, trust, and equality.
