In a step aimed at imparting quality health services to the people, the Government of Punjab – led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Sing Mann – established 881 Aam Aadmi Clinics. These clinics offer treatment for a variety of ailments and also conduct diagnostic tests to identify health issues. As a result, there has been a noticeable rise in the number of patients suffering from kidney disease, diabetes, and hypertension within the state.
These clinics have witnessed a significant response, with a total footfall of over 2.07 cr patients recorded to date. In these clinics, 80 types of medicines and 38 diagnostic tests are being provided free of cost.
So far, more than 72 lakh diagnostics tests have been conducted free of cost. These clinics have contributed in reducing the out-of-pocket expenditure on health care of people of the state by a whopping amount of ₹1050 crore.
The Punjab Government has observed that individuals often neglect timely health check-ups, leading to the worsening of diseases. Therefore, the state government has set up eight state-of-the-art dialysis centres, which are greatly benefiting kidney patients.
Expansion of Dialysis Center
The CM Mann-led government is increasing the number of dialysis centers across the state. In addition, timely treatment is being provided to patients with various other health conditions through regular testing.
To date, Aam Aadmi Clinic has conducted a total of 72 lakh free tests. Of these, 14.6% of patients were diagnosed with hypertension, while 8.5% were found to have high blood sugar levels.
Initiatives are underway to mitigate health issues among the population through the Aam Aadmi Clinic. By facilitating early detection of illnesses through testing, the progression of diseases is being prevented, leading to improved well-being for individuals.
