"Yudh Nashian Virudh": Punjab's Decisive Battle Under Mann Government

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab initiated the "War Against Drugs" in February 2025, and now it has become a strong people's movement. The historic mission is guided by the commitment to free the state from the grip of drugs and to build a healthier, happier, and progressive Punjab.

Chief Minister Mann - The Punjab CM said, “We have pledged to make Punjab drug-free and with the support of people, no force can stop us.”

The government has declared zero tolerance against the drug mafia. Anti-drone systems have been deployed along the 553-kilometer Punjab–Pakistan border to put an end to cross-border smuggling. Demolishing properties acquired through illicit drug trade, the state government has conveyed a strong message-the drug business will no longer get shelter in Punjab.

The results so far have been tremendous. Till November 6, 2025, a total of 23,823 cases have been registered, and 35,563 accused arrested under the campaign. The seizures include 1,525.068 kg heroin, 0.266 kg smack, 545.058 kg opium, 26,254.965 kg poppy husk/green plants, 38.245 kg charas, 527.162 kg ganja, 4.124 kg cocaine, 15.156 kg ice (crystal meth), and 36.978 kg intoxicant powder. There's also 1,575 injections, over 40 lakh tablets and capsules, and ₹13,60,95,651 in drug money.

The government has set up Drug-Free Village Defense Committees at the grassroots level across Punjab. More than 4,500 villages have declared themselves drug-free, and Langroya village in Nawanshahr district has emerged as a model example. For the victims of drug abuse, de-addiction centers have been strengthened, besides introducing anti-drug education for classes 9 to 12.

The rehab programs run by the government have brought many individuals back on their feet, including women like Manmeet Kaur (name changed) from Ludhiana. “My husband had fallen into addiction, and our family was falling apart,” she said. “But through the government’s efforts, we have found hope again.” In the words of Chief Minister Mann, “‘War Against Drugs’ is not just a campaign — it’s a fight to revive the very soul of Punjab.” And this is the collective fight of every Punjabi now — for a drug-free, bright, and empowered Punjab.
