Here Are 6 Unusual Facts About Ambidextrous People

Sushant Singh Rajput Writing with Both Hands: Sushant Singh Rajput was not only a good actor on screen, but he was also a brilliant guy in real life (behind the scenes). Everyone knows about Sushant's education; he was very talented in every respect, and he proved himself in every field. After the actor's death, the stories and videos related to him are becoming very viral on social media (showing how vivacious and unassuming attitude). Meanwhile, one of his fans has shared a video of the actor on the Twitter account. Did you know Sushant could write with both hands simultaneously? Yes, it's true. Usually, you can either write with the left or right side. The fan has shared a throwback video of Sushant in which the actor is seen writing together with both hands. People with this ability are called ambidextrous.

6 Interesting Facts You Never Knew About Ambidextrous People

  • There are very few of them: Ambidextrous people only make up about 1% of the population. People who can use both sides with equal skill, (and have no dominant hand) are about 1 in 100, though many left-handed people can use their non-dominant hand nearly as well as their dominant one.
LEFT HAND

  • A couple of variations: The unique form of ambidexterity is when people all the time can use both hands with strong skill. This means "pertaining equally to the right-hand side and the left-hand side" (these people can be called "ambidextral"). Other people don't have equal ability with both hands, and they use their left hands for some things and their right hands for others. Another term, "ambisinistral," refers to people who have no dominant hand, and use both sides... but neither hand is dominant.

  • It is all in your mind: Ambidexterity indicates that the right and left sides of that person's brain are pretty much symmetrical (which is valid for lefties, too!) On the other hand, right-handed people tend to be left-brain dominant.

RIGHT HAND
  • Started as lefties: Since leftie brains and ambidextrous are so similar, it's only natural for one to start as the other. Since many years, there was a stigma surrounding left-handedness, as the left hand carried with demons and witchcraft. Many left-handed people, experienced pressure to use their right hands instead and ended up developing ambidexterity. Other people may become ambidextrous after injuring their dominant hand.
  • Academia and strong suit: Surprisingly, ambidextrous people tend to be more in tune with their physical abilities than their mental ones (as this skill is so connected to the brain). It may be this reason that they tend to perform poorly on general intelligence tests than people who favour one hand. According to a Finnish study, 7 and 8-year-old children completed several different academic tests. Eighty-seven out of the eight thousand participants were comfortable using both sides.

  • Links to ADHD: In the same Finnish study, ambidextrous teenagers and left-handed were twice as likely as right-handers to show signs of ADHD. Of the teenagers in the study who would already be diagnosed with ADHD, the ambidextrous ones showed more severe symptoms.
