The Punjab Government has taken an ambitious initiative to build over 3,100 modern stadiums across the state. According to an estimate, this dream project, expected to cost ₹1,194 crore, aims not only to improve sports infrastructure but also to channel the energy of the youth towards positive pursuits and give new momentum to the fight against drug abuse.

This initiative is not a sports development program but a social movement, aligned with campaigns like “War Against Drugs” and “Rangla Punjab.” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “Our goal is to ensure that every village has a playground, so that the youth engage in sports and stay away from drugs.”
Large villages where stadiums are coming up across half an acre to four acres would be the first phase. These stadiums would include volleyball, football, athletics, kabaddi, cricket, and other local traditional games. Amenities We're planning to include jogging tracks, open gyms, and yoga areas specifically designed for senior citizens, all aimed at promoting sports and fitness as a vital part of their lives.
These sports complexes are built to inspire youngsters towards taking part in sports, integrate rural areas through active participation, and then introduce the hidden talents from grassroots levels to national and even international levels.
The initiative will go a long way in upgrading Punjab's sports infrastructure, besides being a major stride towards a drug-free, empowered, and vibrant Punjab. As Chief Minister Mann puts it, "The strength of our youth lies in their sporting spirit — and it is sports that will once again take Punjab to great heights."
