Yoga is not just a form of exercise, but it is a practice of holistic well-being. Experts suggest starting the day with a nice yoga session. A calm yet energising start allows for balance in mind, energy in the body, and insight in the spirit. A few yoga asanas can awaken the senses, heighten attention, and uplift one's mood. Let’s explore four energizing practices shared by Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, Yoga and spiritual leader, Founder of Akshar Yoga Kendraa that aid in starting the day with renewed energy and purpose.
Surya Namaskar
Surya Namaskar consists of a sequence of movements in coordination with the breath.
- It works to increase blood circulation, stretch all the major muscle groups and energize the nervous system.
- When practiced regularly, one gains stronger muscles, more flexibility of joints, and a healthier cardiovascular system.
- Surya Namaskar also balances energy within the body, clearing the mind fog and setting the mind on its tasks for the day.
From the moment you are up, the breath combined with the pace of motion allows the mind to be present rather than being consumed with racing thoughts. Click here to read health benefits of doing surya namaskar.
Himalaya Pranam
Himalaya Pranam is a gesture of respect to the mighty Himalayas, the great mountain that represents ancient and timeless wisdom in yoga and spirituality. This practice places humility before deep knowledge, inspiring the heart to keep learning throughout life and to stay closely connected with the true source of wisdom.

“The Himalayan Pranam comes from an ancient tradition where people offered respect to divine energies and the powerful forces of nature. Through its practice, a person increases inner strength; has a better grip on clarity and firm determination; is nurtured with the feeling of gratefulness, and begins the day with a gesture of respect toward truth and a higher purpose. Each time this is performed, it would remind individuals that knowledge is a gift and that, with the right intention, we can proceed onwards on the spiritual path,” shares Himalayan Siddha Akshar.
Nadi Shodhan Pranayama
Inner energy channels being balanced in the morning can bring mental clarity and physical vitality. There are two types of Nadi Shodhan Pranayam- Surya and Chandra.
Surya Nadi Shodhan Pranayam, involves closing one's left nostril while inhaling and exhaling with the right. The Surya Nadi Shodhan is thus stimulated, increasing dynamism, physical strength, and vitality in general. This is good for keeping yourself healthy, physically and mentally, in an active, positive state.
Chandra Nadi Shodhan, on the other hand, is done by gently closing the right nostril and breathing in and out through the left nostril. It is essentially a calming operation for the mind, balances emotions, and assists with relieving stress, anxiety, and mood imbalances.
“The alternate practice at times brings about the state of harmony between body and mind to usher in the whole day,” quotes Himalayan Siddha Akshar.

Seed Meditation (Aarambha Dhyan)
Seed Meditation is a truly advanced meditation technique for priming your system to absorb positive energies. Just like a seed requires the appropriate soil to grow, so do our bodies, minds, and spirits need to be prepared to welcome good energy and nurture it.
- There are two circles that one needs to imagine-a black hole for removal of anything one might not need, and a white hole for pulling in flattering energy.
- With every exhalation, you send out doubt, pain, and unwanted thoughts, whereas with every inhalation, strength, clarity, and inspiration are welcomed into your being.
- Doing this every day helps to clear the mind for healthy emotions to enter and to build a strong foundation for personal growth.
