As per media reports, Jimmy Cliff suffered a seizure, which led to hospitalisation. While receiving care, he developed pneumonia, a serious lung infection that can be life-threatening, especially for elderly patients. Pneumonia can rapidly worsen due to a weakened immune system and underlying health conditions common in older age. His family expressed gratitude to the medical team for their efforts during his treatment.

Though details about prior health issues remain mostly private, it is known that his age and the seizure complicated his condition. Pneumonia’s risk rises with age and can cause respiratory failure if untreated. Seizures, which involve abnormal brain activity, also strain the body’s healing capacity. Who Was Jimmy Cliff?

Born James Chambers in Jamaica’s St. James Parish in 1944, Cliff came to prominence as a teenager with his song “Hurricane Hattie.” Over a six-decade career, he recorded more than 30 albums and became a global ambassador for reggae.
