What Are Hormonal Imbalances?
Hormones are chemicals that are produced by glands in the endocrine system. These chemicals are responsible for regulating all the major bodily functions like metabolism, blood sugar, blood pressure, reproduction cycle, and sexual function. Hormonal imbalance refers to a condition in which there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream.
Symptoms Of Hormonal Imbalance
There is a range of symptoms of hormonal imbalance, both in males and females. For women, it can be acne, mood swings, pain in the abdomen and back, insomnia, unexplained weight gain or weight loss, hirsutism, rashes on the skin, and infertility. For men, it can be anything from unexpected loss of muscle mass and reduced hair growth to muscle tenderness and decreased libido.

Causes
Hormonal imbalance can be caused by a plethora of medical and lifestyle-related reasons. It is directly connected to chronic stress, being overweight, having birth control medications, poor diet, and nutrition, and exposure to toxins and endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
“If you have any of these symptoms which surface either suddenly or are seemingly prolonged even after an adequate rest period…you should consult your endocrinologist without delay. Correct lifestyle changes or hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can help tide over these situations,” said Bhagyashee in her Instagram post.
Hormonal imbalance can create major problems in bodily functions if left untreated for a long time. Hence, it is advised to consult a medical professional as soon as possible after the diagnosis.
