“All of these create an immediate strain on the body’s metabolic functions, the liver, and the kidneys. This leads to the accumulation of fluids and gases, causing an immediate sensation of fullness, heaviness, or sluggishness,” she says. Begin the day by drinking warm water, adding a squeeze of lemon if desired. A daily goal is to consume at least 2–3 litres of fluids. Drinking water aids in the reduction of water retention by flushing out excess sodium.
2. Light Exercise
Engaging in light walking, yoga, or stretching for 20–30 minutes will stimulate digestion, alleviate constipation, and promote blood flow to the cleansing organs.

3. Nutrient-Dense Food Options
Shift your focus to fruits, vegetables, whole foods, soups, curd, dal, and steamed dishes. These foods are high in fibre and antioxidants, which help cleanse the liver and intestinal passages.

Incorporate turmeric, ginger, garlic, and omega-3-rich foods like walnuts or flaxseeds. These help reduce the inflammation produced by processed holiday meals.
