In an interview at the Cannes, Alia shared that ghee is regularly used to cook meals. The actor said that she believes it plays an important role in both gut and skin health. Speaking about the secret to her youthful skin, she revealed that she has a ‘skin snack’ recipe she swears by. It is a simple homemade mix of ghee, jaggery, crushed peanuts, and a little bit of coconut. Alia said, "It's great for the gut, it's great for the skin".
The actor added that it makes her skin look great. Now, if you are wondering whether such ‘skin snack’ recipes are actually beneficial and effective for your skin or not, our expert answers this for you.

Are These Skin Snacks Really Effective?
Dr Furtado says that many celebrity ‘skin snack’ recipes become viral because they contain natural and healthy ingredients that are believed to support glowing skin. “These snacks usually include a mix of nuts, seeds, healthy fats, dry fruits, or traditional ingredients rich in vitamins and antioxidants. While such foods can support skin health, they are not magic solutions for perfect skin,” she adds.
The expert continues, “Healthy fats from ingredients such as nuts, seeds, or ghee can help keep the skin moisturised and support the skin barrier. Protein-rich foods help repair skin tissues, while vitamins such as vitamin E and antioxidants help protect the skin from damage caused by pollution and stress. Some traditional ingredients may also support gut health, which is often linked to healthier skin.”
Speaking about its potential risks, Dr Furtado says, “It is also important to eat these snacks in moderation. Many viral ‘healthy’ snacks are calorie-dense because they contain nuts, jaggery, honey, or ghee. Eating large amounts daily may lead to unwanted weight gain or increased sugar intake. People with diabetes, food allergies, or certain skin conditions should also be careful with specific ingredients.”
Tips for Glowing Skin
Dr Furtado says that glowing skin depends on many factors, not just one snack or recipe. The expert lists these factors down:
- Good hydration
- Balanced nutrition
- Proper sleep
- Regular exercise
- Stress management
- Good skincare habits also play a much bigger role.
“The best approach is to follow a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, protein, and healthy fats regularly. Natural foods can help improve skin quality over time. Viral celebrity food trends can be enjoyable and healthy, but they should be viewed as one small part of a complete skincare and wellness routine,” concludes Dr Furtado.

Conclusion
A healthy snack may support overall wellness, but it cannot remove acne, pigmentation, or wrinkles overnight. However, consistency and overall lifestyle habits matter more than trending recipes.
