A New Chapter of Employment in Punjab: Bhagwant Mann Government Redefines Hiring System

Punjab is witnessing a sea change under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann in respect of providing jobs to its citizens. More than 1.6 lakh youth have been connected with government, private, and contractual jobs by the state government in the last three and a half years, out of which 58,962 appointments to government posts are purely based on merit and transparency.

Chief Minister Mann said, "This is the victory of Punjab's hardworking youth-no recommendations, no bribes, only merit." This kind of transparency in the process has not only strengthened the credibility of the state administration but also restored public trust in the government system among the youth.

Maximum recruitments have been carried out in Education, Health, Police, and Energy Departments. More than 2,000 posts were filled in the Education Department, which included 725 Special Educators and Master Cadre teachers. The Police Department recruited 1,746 constables, out of which 1,261 joined District Police and 485 joined Armed Police. Similarly, the Health Department has appointed more than 1,000 medical officers, nurses, and other staff. In the same vein, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL) combined have made 8,984 appointments since April 2022.

According to the government, these appointments have helped arrest the trend of brain drain by offering the youth of Punjab respectable career opportunities within their own state. To this end, Chief Minister Mann emphasizes that this is not just a set of recruitment figures but a symbol of a new mindset-one that values competence over connections and integrity over influence.

This initiative not only relaunches Punjab's administrative system but also promises future generations that hard work and talent will be genuinely valued.
