A New Revolution in Healthcare in Punjab: High-Tech Ambulances Reaching Every Needy on Time

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government has significantly improved the state’s healthcare services, enhancing emergency medical assistance. Over the past one and a quarter years, the government has deployed a large fleet of GPS-enabled high-tech ambulances, playing a crucial role in saving lives.

In July 2024, Chief Minister Mann dedicated 58 new high-tech ambulances to the public, and in June 2025, 46 more state-of-the-art ambulances were added to the fleet. Punjab now has a total of 371 government ambulances, ensuring coverage across every district, city, and village.

These ambulances are equipped with oxygen support, Ambu-bags, life-saving medicines, first-aid equipment, and real-time GPS tracking systems. The government has set a target for ambulances to reach patients within 15 minutes in urban areas and 20 minutes in rural areas.

Through these advanced ambulance services, over one lakh patients have been transported to hospitals, including heart patients and pregnant women. The reliability of the service is reflected in the fact that over 80 children have been safely delivered inside these ambulances.

During the recent floods, the government demonstrated its responsiveness by introducing boat ambulances, which delivered medicines and relief materials to villages, ensuring the safety of people even under extreme conditions. Four children were safely delivered, and dozens of lives were saved during these operations.

This initiative by the Punjab government has not only strengthened emergency healthcare services, but also instilled public confidence that help will reach every needy person on time. During the floods, these services saved the lives of thousands of patients.
