To get an understanding of how such explicit content can harm one’s mind and body, we reached out to Dr Divya Shree KR, Consultant – Psychiatry, Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore. Keep reading.

What Is The 19-minute Viral Video?

The 19-minute viral video refers to an explicit sexual MMS, which has been trending on social media platforms. As per reports, the clip is that of a 19-minute, 34-second MMS. It reportedly features a young couple, who were seen engaged in an intimate moment.

The clip also shows the couple engaging in a vulgar conversation, as per reports. The source of the video is still not known. It is thus not clear whether the couple posted the clip on Instagram on purpose or was it leaked, or whether it was AI-generated.

Some netizens even targeted other girls, claiming that they are the one who is featured in the 19-minute clip. This has also created controversy related to the clip.

Expert Shares Impact Of Explicit Sexual Content On Mind

Now let us tell you how explicit MMS can affect one’s mind. “Explicit sexual content can affect the mind negatively when it is consumed too often or at a very young age, because it can create unrealistic expectations about relationships and physical intimacy. It can confuse a person about what healthy consent and boundaries look like, and it may cause emotional stress or guilt, if the content does not match their personal values,” shares Shree KR.

She adds, “It can also reduce focus and productivity by becoming a distraction. In some people, it may lead to compulsive viewing that affects daily life. For some individuals, constant exposure can desensitize the mind, making real-life emotional connection harder. However, the impact is different for each person. The negative effects mostly happen when the content is excessive, inappropriate for age, or replaces healthy communication and relationships.”

How Viral Explicit Sexual Content Affects Our Body

Not just the mind, vulgar content even impacts one’s body. Our expert explains how.

“Explicit sexual content can affect the body negatively when it is watched too much, because the brain and body are closely connected. It can increase stress hormones, cause tension, and lead to poor sleep if a person feels guilt, shame, or anxiety after watching it. Too much exposure can also overstimulate the brain, which may reduce natural excitement during real relationships and affect physical intimacy,” explains the expert.

“For some people, it may cause headaches, tiredness, or changes in appetite due to constant stimulation and lack of rest. It can also encourage unhealthy habits like staying up late, skipping exercise, or avoiding social activity. The impact is not the same for everyone, but problems usually appear when the content becomes addictive, replaces healthy physical activity, or interferes with regular routines and self-care,” concludes Dr Shree KR.
