Warm socks, cozy blankets, hot soups, seasonal illnesses and dry skin, not everything about the winter season is exciting. Where all of us wish to get smooth soft and supple skin, unfortunately it can not be the case throughout the year due to the changing weather conditions. The chilli winter air lacks moisture and hence leaves your skin to be dull and dry. Over time this dryness makes your skin stiff and stretchy. One must know that dry skin is not just a cosmetic concern but can actually lead to issues such as psoriasis, eczema and painful cracks. Keeping your skin moisturized and hydrated becomes very important and hence here we have brought some simple and pocket friendly remedies that will help you to get soft and supple skin this winter season. 

#1. Cut on your shower time

Taking shower regularly is good for your health as it helps to keep you hygienic and healthy. Getting into a hot steamy shower during winter days is something that we all love. Where this might make you feel good due to the warmth, you must know that it can make your skin excessively dry. These hot showers not just dry out your skin but also damages the skin surface and harms the skin barrier as well. This extremely dry skin can lead to causing serious skin conditions such as eczema.

Ensure that the temperature of the water is not too extreme and you are not spending a lot of time in those hot showers. Pat dry your skin softly instead of aggressive rubbing after a shower and do not forget to apply a moisturizer.

As said, winter air lacks moisture and humidity and hence leads to making your skin dry and stretchy. In order to provide moisture and hydration to the skin, one can use a small humidifier or steamer to keep the skin hydrated. Honey helps your skin to stay hydrated and moisturized without making it feel oily or clogging the pores. Rich in antioxidants, honey can also help you protect the skin from the environmental damage, soothe sensitive skin and boost up the wound healing process. The antibacterial properties of honey also helps to keep any kind of skin disease and bacteria infection at bay.

You can simply take a teaspoon of honey and apply it onto your skin as a moisturizer or prepare a honey face mask by combining honey with yogurt and vitamin E oil.

Drinking adequate amounts of water and keeping yourself hydrated is important for the proper functioning of various organ systems. With our skin being a secondary organ, lack of water content in the body tends to affect it first. Whenever the body is in the need of hydration and doesn’t get enough water, it tends to extract the water content from the skin to perform other body functions. This leads your skin to be dehydrated, damaged and dull with lack of moisture and hydration. To stay healthy and get supple skin, one must consume about 3 litres of water each day.

A gel pant that can easily be found in your neighbourhood, aloe vera is known for its hydrating and skin soothing properties. From fighting the early signs of aging to reducing skin infection, aloe vera can do it all. Rich in beta-carotene and vitamins such as C and E, aloe vera is a one stop solution for a moisturized nourished skin. Application of freshly extracted aloe vera gel onto the skin helps to prevent dehydration, provide moisture and nourish the skin without making it greasy or blocking the pores.

Cut and slice a fresh aloe vera leaf from your garden. Extract the aloe vera gel with the help of a fork and blend it in a mixer. Apply this gel onto your skin and massage it well before going to bed.
