Do You Workout Regularly? Our Expert Has A Message For You!

Going to the gym or exercising regularly is one of the healthiest and best things you can do for yourself. To get the most out of it with the least amount of risk, best practices must be followed. Whether you are an avid athlete or just beginning your fitness career, a few tips must be remembered.

If you are someone who works out on a regular basis, our expert, Dr Kapil Dave, Director of Sports - Sharda University - Noida, has a message for you! Here are a few things he shared with us and you should know!

1. Stay Hydrated

Water is essential for energy balance and muscle recovery. Dehydration results in fatigue, dizziness, and impaired performance. Try to drink water before, during, and after exercising to keep yourself well-hydrated.

2. Opt for Proper Nutrition

Feeding your body the appropriate nutrients is equally as crucial as the exercise itself. A diet that is well-balanced, high in protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates provides your body with the energy it needs to perform and recover effectively.

3. Listen to Your Body

Prolonged pushing can result in injury and burnout. If it hurts (not to be confused with soreness after a workout), rest and give your body time to recover. Rest days are as important as active days.

4. Stick to Good Form

Poor form does more harm than good and can cause serious injury, particularly with weight lifting and high-level exercises. Think about hiring a trainer to help you get your exercises right.

5. Rest and Sleep

Recovery is a big component of fitness. Try to get at least seven to nine hours of sleep each night so that your muscles can heal and grow. Lack of sleep can result in subpar performance and higher injury risk.

6. Add Strength and Flexibility Training

Cardio is excellent, but a complete exercise regimen should include strength training for building muscle mass and flexibility workouts such as stretching or yoga for increasing mobility and preventing stiffness.

7. Do Not Skip Warm-ups and Cool-downs

Warming up prepares your muscles and prevents injury, and cooling down prevents muscle stiffness and improves recovery. Always take a few minutes before and post-workout for these critical steps.

Bottomline

Exercise must be enjoyable, not a burden. Therefore, discover exercises that you enjoy, mix up the routine, and incorporate fitness as a fun lifestyle. By adhering to these vital tips, you can have a sustainable and productive workout routine that helps you achieve your long-term health and fitness objectives.
