Dr Kumar said that maintaining hormonal balance is important for overall health and well-being, regardless of the season. However, certain factors become particularly relevant during the summer when the body may be subjected to increased heat and environmental changes. Here are some perspectives from health experts on things to avoid in the summer to help maintain hormonal balance:

While moderate sun exposure is beneficial for vitamin D synthesis, excessive exposure to the sun's harmful Ultraviolet (UV) rays can disrupt the hormonal balance. Prolonged exposure to intense sunlight can affect the function of the hypothalamus, which regulates the body's hormone production. Therefore, it's important to avoid excessive sun exposure and protect your skin by wearing sunscreen, hats, and appropriate clothing.

According to Environmental Health Perspectives, prolonged exposure to the sun can also lead to cataracts and diseases that are aggravated by UVR-induced immunosuppression, like the reactivation of some latent viruses.
