During winters, the sun rays wouldn’t reach my balcony which made my plants go wither but now, as the gentle morning rays of the sun touch my balcony, my plants seem to smile and dance in joy. The leaves on the trees and plants affected by autumn have started to grow. Fresh summer fruits and vegetables are set to harvest and arrive in the markets. 

As the pleasant spring is slowly turning into scorching hot summer, equip yourself with fresh, juicy and hydrating summer fruits to stay healthy and beat the heat ahead of summers. In summers our bodies get dehydrated quickly and the energy levels drop. It is essential to keep yourself hydrated with plenty of water and hydrating summer fruits to keep up the energy and immune system. Here are some summer fruits that will protect you from the merciless heat.

1. Watermelon

As per a study, watermelon is 91% water by weight which fulfils the hydration needs. As the name suggests ‘water’ melon, it indicates hydration. Consuming watermelon can help you bring back your lost electrolytes and keep you hydrated. Additionally, watermelon contains fibre which along with water helps in aiding digestion problems. Available in various varieties in different regions like Alphanso in Maharashtra, Kesar in Gujarat, and Chausa and Safeda in North India. Study states, “Mango exocarp has been found to be a good source of polyphenols, carotenoids, dietary fibre, and vitamin E.” The study also states that parts of mango tree are used in treating various ailments like diarrhoea, fever, haemorrhages, ulcers and so on. Hydrate yourself with mango pulp and mango juice this summer. 

4. Lychee
