Detailing about the transformation journey, celebrity physical trainer, Paolo Mascitti, revealed that Corenswet went through an intense fitness regimen tailored specifically to the role of Superman. For the movie, the actor started a few months before filming began and engaged in two-hour workout sessions up to four times a week.

Standing tall at 6 '4, David Corenswet aimed to match and even surpass the physical presence established by Henry Cavill, who previously played the DC role. For the new actor, trainer Paolo Mascitti played a vital role in this transformation. In a post, he revealed, "David worked his ass off; I can’t wait to share more of the training we did to prepare to play this iconic character."  

The 31-year-old actor set a goal to reach 210 pounds, but through hard work and dedication, he ultimately bulked up to 238 pounds at his peak during training. “I didn’t fit into any of my pants," shared David on the podcast, Manly Things (Sort Of)

Trainer Reveals The Workout Regime Of David Corenswet 

During a conversation, his trainer, Paolo Mascitti shared that they focused on “moments like presses, pull-ups, pull-downs, rows – all the big ones.” For the character, Mascitti adjusted his approach for the Superman actor as they maintained a focus on progressive overload to promote muscle growth.   • Strength Training: Focusing on heavy lifting to build muscle mass. 
  • Cardio Workouts: To maintain cardiovascular health and improve endurance.

The trainer diligently tracked reps and weights, striving to advance each week. Mascitti emphasised that this method works effectively, and the key lies in mastering the basics. He even highlighted the importance of full range of motion exercises and consistently progressing in both weight and repetitions. His Superman workout plan can help anyone get fit, whether for heroic goals or less noble intentions. Some of the workouts are mentioned below. 

  • Incline Dumbbell Press: Set the bench to 45 degrees. Lie back and press the dumbbells straight up from your chest, then slowly lower them down.
  • Bench Press/Cable Fly Superset: Lie on a flat bench and press a barbell straight up. After your reps, move to the cable machine, pulling two handles together in front of your chest.
  • Seated Overhead Shoulder Press/Lat Raise Superset: With the bench at 90 degrees, lift dumbbells straight up, then lower them to your chest. Next, lift lighter dumbbells out to the sides.
  • Reverse Triceps Extension/Bicep Curl Superset: At the cable machine, pull down on a straight bar for the triceps, then grab dumbbells and curl them up.

What Was The Diet For The Role Of Superman?

David Corenswet followed a strict diet plan that required him to consume around 6,000 calories a day. This included three meals, two high-calorie shakes of 1,200 calories each, and a bedtime snack of Greek yoghurt. According to his trainer, his true weakness was cereal. He even noted that while Corenswet followed a strict diet, it wasn't as strict as he would have liked.
