Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Thursday morning due to an abdomen-related issue. While concerns arose over her health, the hospital has confirmed that there is no major cause for worry, and she is expected to be discharged soon.
Medical Team Assures No Serious Concerns
Dr Ajay Swaroop, chairman of the Board of Management at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, provided an update on her condition, stating, "She was admitted today for an abdomen-related issue. However, there is no major concern, and in all likelihood, she will be discharged by tomorrow morning."
Sonia Gandhi is currently under the care of Dr Samiran Nundy, a leading specialist in gastroenterology. The medical team has been closely monitoring her condition, ensuring she receives the best possible care.

Recent Public Engagements
Despite being 78 years old, Sonia Gandhi has remained active in public life. Her most recent major public appearance was at the Rajya Sabha last week during the Budget session on February 13. Prior to that, on February 10, she raised concerns in Parliament regarding the delay in conducting the national population census.
In her first Zero Hour speech in the Rajya Sabha, she highlighted that around 14 crore people in India might be missing out on entitlements under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) due to outdated population data from the 2011 Census. She urged the government to expedite the process to ensure that benefits reach the deserving population.
Expected Recovery and Discharge
With her health under control, Sonia Gandhi is likely to return home by Friday evening. Her hospitalisation, though brief, serves as a reminder of the importance of health monitoring, especially for senior political figures who continue to be actively engaged in policymaking and public welfare.
As one of the most prominent political leaders in India, Sonia Gandhi's well-being remains a matter of public interest. Supporters and party members are relieved by the medical team's assurance that she is in stable condition and will soon resume her engagements.
