COVID-19 infection is increasing again with its new variant namely omicron. It has been told that breathing disorders could be possibly linked to higher rate of infection in corona virus. There could be possible outcomes in which Corona virus can prevailed more in people that have any breathing problems. This is because of lack of blood oxygen present in the body. According to a recent study, there also have been other facts which link corona virus, omicron and sleeping disorders. According to doctor, she said that sleeping disorder cause problems in inhaling oxygen which could reduce the rate of SPO2 in the blood. The person who has breathing issues can have severe outcomes if precautions are not taken in time. Especially with COVID infection we have seen that patients have severe breathing issues and it affects your lungs at a vital rate. Omicron variant could possibly be more transmissible hence increasing the risk of COVID in people. Any disorders related to sleep need to be well monitored in order to reduce the risk.

This is also applicable with other respiratory problems and issues related to COVID infection. Chronic cough and sleep related hypoxia can also increase the risk of corona virus in current scenario. This could increase with new variant of omicron entering the COVID scenario around the world.

There was a recent study by National Institute of Health and Cleveland Clinic that shows that pre-existing symptoms of sleep disorders were associated with higher risk of COVID-19 infection. Not only this, it also shows that rate of hospitalization and severity is also more in terms of people suffering from sleeping disorders and outcomes. This increase in severity rate depends upon different individuals and rate of infection he has got. 

Dr. Mehra, who is a senior investigator in the Cleveland clinic study, told that certain sleep disorders have more severe COVID-19 outcomes. It could have increased rate of infection and 31% higher hospitalisation rate.

According to Dr. Reena Mehra, risk of omicron and COVID infection can be less for people those who are vaccinated. This is because severity rate is lower in those people even if they have sleep disorders. They can also recover easily and their SPO2 levels also remain more stable.
