Why Covid-19 is Making Headlines Again?
Indian states are scared that a fresh wave of Covid-19 may hit soon. This scare is a result of two Coronavirus deaths, which have been reported in Andhra Pradesh. These deaths were reported within a gap of 10 days. The state reported several cases in recent weeks. They are strengthening surveillance in the state and preparing the isolation facilities in hospitals.
The first Covid-19 death in AP was reported on June 28 in the town of Rajampet. A 52-year-old patient was admitted to the Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore. He was suffering from a lung infection and bilateral kidney disease. The man was diabetic and hypertensive; he passed away after testing Covid positive. The other case is that of a 46-year-old man from Kadapa district. He was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at a hospital in the district. The man passed away on July 7.
As per reports, the district administration traced 28 contacts of the patients and tested them. Eight individuals were found to be Covid positive in both these districts. However, all of them are asymptomatic, stable and under home isolation.
Odisha is preparing for the grand Rath Yatra in Puri. After the Covid-19 death cases in AP, Odisha stepped up its surveillance and preparedness against the virus, confirmed by the health authorities. They mentioned in a report that there are no further confirmed positive cases. The Tamil Nadu government has also attempted to control the fear with a statement saying that there is no evidence of cases rising.
