- Good digestion is important for good health.
The concept of acupressure and acupuncture are based on certain other therapies such as Shiastu and reflexology. According to this, the forces of life known as chi travel through the body along the pathways which are known as meridians.
It is said in traditional Chinese medicine that there are twenty meridians in a human body, and most of the acupuncture and acupressure happen on work on around 14 meridians, out of which twelve are the regular meridians and the two are extra meridians which is known as the Conception Vessel and the Governor Vessel. For a person whose stomach is strong, he holds the ability to absorb all the value from the food that he or she eats and turn it into valuable nutrients. When the body’s digestive system is weak, it will not receive the required nutrients and will not be able to estimate the waste that the body produces. Acupressure comes as a great help during such a time.

In this, the acupoint is known as Stomach 36 and is also called Zu San Li, or “leg three miles”. It is called so because of its ability to strengthen energy and make a person walk another three miles even when he or she is exhausted. After bending your leg, place four fingers just below your kneecap. Then with your index finger at the base of your kneecap feel for the tender spot. This is the point where the little finger is resting, on the outside aspect of your shinbone. This accupoint can be good to improve your immune system and it can also strengthen your energy levels. Disorders such as diarrhoea, gas, bloating and vomiting are treated.
This helps to help you when you have overeaten, or suffering from gas, bloating, and acid regurgitation. Ren is basically that channel where all yin fluids of your body collect. Also, known as Zhong Wan or “middle cavity, the Ren 12 is specifically present where the energy of your stomach comes to gather and collect. The stomach in Chinese medicine is known as “sea of water and grain”. It transforms water and grain into usable nutrients for your body. The Ren 12 is found where you belly button is located, on the belly button you need to find the point where the ribs come to meet, the Ren 12 is the centre of the line. You may have heard of it as he solar plexus according to the Chakra system.
The accupoint is located on the stomach meridian and it is here where the energy of the intestine gathers and also concentrates. It is also known as Tian Shu, and this means heaven’s pivot. This is where the upper and lower gastrointestinal meet and they can relate to each other. You should place three fingers parallel and alongside the centre of your bellybutton, and you will find this point at the edge of the last finger which is three fingers away from the centre. It is used for healing constipation, diarrhoea, or any such intestinal disorder.
