It is the pain in the upper right quadrant of the abdomen that indicates problem in the gall bladder. The gall bladder aches due to formation of gallstones or inflamed gall tissues. The pain may be persistent or passing. Constant, sharp pain in the gall bladder can travel up to the shoulder, arms and across the back. To avoid achy body parts, it is advised to avail treatment on time. Here are some tips that will help relieve gall bladder pain.

Take Immediate Relief Action

For immediate relief, take a painkiller or use a heating pad. You may also place an ice pack on the painful gall bladder or use a combination of these instant pain relief methods if the pain does not subside. If the gall bladder pain is accompanied by heartburn, you may take an antacid to ease it. It is advised to limit the intake of spicy foods.

Take a Methyl Tert-butyl Ether (MTBE) injection

The MTBE injection directly affects the gallbladder to dissolve stones and decrease discomfort. This isn’t a self-administered method and you must therefore, talk to your doctor first before taking the injection. MTBE can dissolve gallstones within 5-12 hours, as reported by the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Take Low-fat Diet

Consuming a diet high in fats may trigger increased production of gallstones, causing further pain in the gall bladder. Stick to a low-fat diet until the agonising pain subsides.  Do not consume greasy items such as cheese, butter, ghee or refined oil. Cut on your intake of animal fat as it has been linked to formation of gallstones. Avoid eating pizza, hamburgers and meat.

Take Fruits

Eating sufficient amount of fresh fruits and vegetables can benefit  a person suffering from gall bladder pain. The nutrients provided by fresh fruits help to dissolve gall stones, comforting gall bladder ache. Apples are considered to be the most important fruit to ease pain in the gall bladder.

Take Whole Grain Bread

According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, people who eat white bread are more likely to have gallstones than those who consume whole grain bread. This also indicates that the problem of gallstones can be linked to consumption of refined flour. If you do not want to switch to whole wheat bread, eat bread that includes equal portions of refined flour and wheat.

A healthy diet can help your pain to subside and may also aid in reversing the problem. If you are suffering from acute pain in the gall bladder, it may indicate the presence of too many gall stones. Get medical help at the earliest to prevent the onset of pancreatitis, which is a very painful condition and may take longer to be treated.
