A study published in the Physicians Health Study suggests that eating one egg per day is generally safe (not more than one yolk a day, you can eat unlimited whites). If you eat more than one egg a day, it can increase your heart disease risk later in life. Moreover, a diet high in saturated fat when combined with eggs can have a more profound effect on your bad “LDL” cholesterol levels. It’s better to have include variety in your diet; you can eat one egg a day but mix different food options such as oatmeal with mixed berries and milk, lean sources of protein (such as grilled chicken, fish and beans).

There is no conclusive evidence to suggest how much is too much. It is possible (although unlikely) that eating even more than a certain number could have a detrimental effect on health. Overall, eating eggs is perfectly safe, even if you’re eating up to 3 whole eggs a day, which makes up just over 20 eggs a week.
