There are different problems and situation a person goes through in his lifetime. One of the serious issues which is sometimes neglected by people is that of constipation and passing stools. Proper excretion is as important as proper digestion. If the food you eat does not pass out from your body smoothly, you can have problems. A common problem amongst this is pain while passing stools. This sometimes gets more complicated when blood comes out while passing stools. Therefore it is important to focus on this problem and treat it for smooth passing of stool without any pain.
Why Do You Have Pain While Passing Stools?
Pain while passing stools is because of issues in the anal region. It is an anorectic problem which is faced by a number of people. Sometimes this also causes blood to occur while passing stool which can be a sign of serious problem. Having blood in stool can lead to bigger issues which are connected to other systems. However in most cases this problem can be fixed using some home remedies which are easy to develop and apply. Let us look at some home remedies for pain while passing stools.
1. Epsom salt in warm bath
One of the cause of having pain while passing stool is because of irritation in the anus region. This can be resolved through taking a sitz bath. This is basically a procedure of taking partial bath mostly upto your lower region by sitting in a tub or similar bowl which warms your anal region and gives relief. If you do not have that tub, you can also take full body bath in warm water by adding some Epsom salt. Take this bath for 20 minutes daily and you will notice better results in passing your stools.
2. Apply Coconut Oil
Many people who use home remedies use this as a treatment for many ailments. Put a small amount of coconut oil on cotton and dab it over your anal opening. This is a natural remedy and gives relief from pain, irritation and redness in the area. Coconut oil is a good option to treat pain while passing stool and is very easy to apply. Only if you have some kind of allergy from coconut products or oil, then do not use this as a remedy as it may worsen your case. Consult a doctor if you have some confusion of applying it on your tender parts.
3. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has great benefits for many problems. Natural aloe vera can be used as a remedy to treat this problem and give relief in pain while passing stools. For this you need to follow these steps-
- Take a fresh aloe vera from the plant
- Take out the juice or pigment of the aloe vera in a bowl
- Rub the pigment to make it even
- Apply it directly to the skin near anal area and pain
Aloe Vera has anti-inflammatory properties that can help treat irritation and itching and burning sensation because of which pain occurs. It can smoothen the passage and give relief in passing stools. You can apply it directly on anus, but it should not have any added preservatives of colours which you get in the market as it can cause reactions on the skin. You can also have Aloe Vera juice orally to increase effectiveness.
4. Use of Ice Packs
Ice packs are beneficial for helping get rid of the pain which occurs while passing stool. This happens because ice pack numbs the pain and temporarily reduces the swelling in the region. It is also useful in relieving pain and swelling in the anal region. Ice pack soothes the skin when applies to the anal area near the anus. To avoid any problem, make sure to wrap the ice with a towel or soft cloth that is not harsh to your skin. You can also apply ready-made ice packs available in the market. Place the ice pack in the region for about 15 minutes at a time; you can do this multiple time at an interval of minimum 1 hour.

5. Go for squat position over the toilet
Normal western toilet seats do not put pressure on your stomach because of which many people suffer from constipation or problems in passing stools. Squat position is best for passing stools easily; hence you can take a small bench or plastic stool and place it beneath your legs. This will change your position and help in making bowel movements much easier. It may also help to reduce pain while passing stool and other related problems.
6. Exercise More Often
Exercising is beneficial for the body and also helps to treat many health issues. It is helpful in reducing pain while passing stools and it eases the movements and makes the stool soft for smooth bowel movements. Also when you exercise, you tend to drink more water and liquids, which is another factor that helps in passing stools efficiently. Natural laxatives like prune juice can also be had after exercise to help pass stool without any pain in this condition.
