People tend to rely more on garlic in the winter because of its many health benefits and body-warming properties. Everyone consumes garlic throughout winter as a paste, chopped, or diced meal. Eating garlic is also associated with increased incidents of heartburn. Garlic eating is thought to enhance the risk of heartburn in people with acid reflux. People who eat particularly raw garlic are likely to experience heartburn. High doses of garlic supplements also lead to dizziness and nausea.

People On Blood Thinners

Garlic is also known for its blood-thinning property. People who are already on blood thinners or statins for high-cholesterol issues should avoid taking garlic. By doing this, you are potentially averting the risk of bleeding. Thus, before using garlic supplements or ingesting excessive amounts of garlic, persons using blood thinners should ask their doctor first.

People Who Are Prone To Bad Breath

If you are someone who is more prone to bad breath, you can avoid garlic. Besides finding it unappetising, garlic's strong taste can increase the foul odour if eaten raw. However, maintaining proper oral hygiene will help you significantly eliminate garlic breath. Brush properly and rinse your mouth with an antibacterial mouthwash. You can also chew gum to get rid of bad breath temporarily. Additionally, you can eat parsley or drink green tea to eliminate foul odour.

Despite this, eating garlic has a lot of benefits. It improves immunity, manages blood sugar levels, maintains brain health, reduces blood pressure, and lowers the risk of heart disease.

It is also possible to reduce adverse digestive effects like heartburn or acid reflux by switching from raw to cooked garlic. If you experience side effects after consuming raw garlic, consider cutting back on your intake or stopping altogether. Before using garlic supplements, be sure to see your doctor, especially if you are already on medication or have any underlying medical issues.
