Dr. Prasad Mylarappa is the Head of Department and Consultant in Urology at Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, M.S. Ramaiah Nagar, Bengaluru, with 25 years of clinical experience in urology, including 15 years as a Consultant at Ramaiah Hospital. He completed his MBBS from Bangalore Medical College (1990), his MS in General Surgery from Goa Medical College (1995) as a University Gold Medalist, and his MCh in Urology from the prestigious Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) (1999). He additionally holds MRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK (2005) - reflecting an internationally validated surgical standard. He is fluent in Kannada, English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, enabling him to serve patients across diverse linguistic backgrounds. Dr. Prasad's clinical expertise spans the full breadth of contemporary urology, encompassing uro-oncology, laparoscopic and robotic surgery, endourology and laser procedures, andrology and microsurgery, female urology, paediatric urology, and renal transplantation. His robotic and laparoscopic repertoire includes radical nephrectomy, radical cystectomy, radical prostatectomy, partial nephrectomy, and pelvic node dissection. He is proficient in Holmium and Thulium laser procedures including PCNL, URS, RIRS, TURP, and TURBT, as well as microsurgical procedures for male infertility including varicocele ligation, vasoepididymostomy, and vasovasostomy. He also performs live-related and cadaver renal transplants, AV fistulas, VVF repair, sacrocolpopexy, and a comprehensive range of paediatric urological surgeries. Prior to joining Ramaiah Hospital, he gained experience at AIIMS New Delhi, Manipal Hospital, and Mallya Hospital. An active academician, Dr. Prasad has been training postgraduate students in the department and serves as an examiner for DNB (Urology) examinations at the National Board, New Delhi, and for MCh examinations at various universities across India, for the past 10 years. He is currently President-elect of the Bangalore Urological Society and has previously served as its Treasurer. He has approximately 30 publications in national and international indexed journals, covering topics across uro-oncology, renal transplant, paediatric urology, and rare urological case reports.
