In the past few months, COVID-19 cases have been rising in the state of Maharashtra. A lot of Bollywood celebrities have also been tested positive for COVID-19 including Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, R Madhavan, Akshay Kumar Paresh Rawal, Milind Woman, Kartik Aryan, Aamir Khan and Satish Kaushik. In fact, Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar also tested COVID-19 positive a few days ago. And now, the latest name that has been added to this list is Akshay Kumar. The Dum Laga Ke Haisha actor made the announcement on her social media account on Monday (April 5). On the other hand, stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Malaika Arora have already taken their COVID-19 vaccination. In fact, there is now a weekend lockdown in the state and 8pm-7am curfew amid COVID surge. Malls and cinema halls will be closed, while eateries and travel have also been restricted till some limit.
She said that she has ‘mild symptoms’ but is overall feeling fine and is under home quarantine. Bhumi Pednekar shared a statement post on her Instagram handle that said, “I have tested positive for Covid-19. As of today, I have mild symptoms, but am feeling ok and have isolated myself. I am following the protocol given by my doctor and health professionals. If you have been in contact with me, request you to please get tested immediately." The statement further added, "Steam, Vit - C, Food and a Happy Mood are my go-to :) Please don't take the current situation lightly, even though I followed utmost precaution and care I've contracted it. Wear a mask, keep washing your hands, maintain social distancing and be mindful of your general behaviour."

On the professional front, Bhumi Pednekar was last seen in Durgamati, which released on an OTT platform in December 2020. She will next be seen in the film Badhaai Do alongside Rajkumar Rao. As of Monday morning, India has recorded over 1,03,558 new COVID-19 cases, which is the highest daily surge. Maharashtra is the worst-hit state in the country with 57,074 fresh cases on Sunday.
