The end of 2023 is here and Zoya Akhtar gave us the perfect year-ending movie in the form of Netflix’s Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, directed by debutante Arjun Varain Singh. Featuring Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Adarsh Gourav in the lead roles, the film revolves around the three 20-something-olds as they navigate through their careers, friendships, and relationships, with social media playing a huge role in it all. The film did make a positive impact on the target audience, however, another thing that took the major limelight is Adarsh Gourav’s tremendous physical transformation for his role as Neil, a calisthenics trainer.
If anyone had the perfect washboard abs in the movie, it was none other than Adarsh Gourav. Adarsh has been seen doing the most unconventional roles in projects like The White Tiger, Hostel Daze, and Guns And Gulaabs, but Zoya Akhtar’s Kho Gaye Hum Kahan literally took blood and sweat out of him. His role as a calisthenics trainer in the film needed him to have the most chiseled and visually aesthetic body possible.

Adarsh Gourav’s Physical Transformation
As per the director Arjun Varain Singh’s vision, Gourav was supposed to look like Brad Pitt’s iconic physique in Fight Club. To bring his vision to reality, Adarsh was aligned with Robin Behl, Co-founder of The Tribe India, who trained him for the role. The workout regime was primarily focused on calisthenics and skill work, majorly depending on bodyweight strength exercises like pull-ups, push-ups, parallel bar dips, and planks. To fulfill the requirements of both strength and aesthetics, weight training was also incorporated into the regimen to add finesse to the muscles.

Diet And Nutrition
Achieving a body frame that is equally strong and visually appealing takes a meticulous balance of exercise and nutrition. Renowned exercise nutritionist Mishti Khatri played a huge role in taking care of the nutrition part. She collaborated with the trainer, Robin Behl, to come up with the perfect diet that would balance out Adarsh’s extensive training. Though he is vegetation, the actor had to switch to a heavy non-vegetarian diet to achieve his daily requirement of 3400 calories.

Other than his behind-the-scenes training, Adarsh also displayed some of the acquired skills on screen such as hand-stands, forward roll on the ring, and muscle-ups. This transformation says a lot about Adarsh Gourav as an actor and his dedication to his craft. After Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, the actor would be seen as a part of Alien, an upcoming science fiction horror television series written and directed by Noah Hawley, based on the Alien franchise.
