The most common men sexual problems are erectile dysfunction, ejaculation disorders (such as premature ejaculation, inhibited ejaculation and retrograde ejaculation) and loss of libido.

Sex problems in men are detailed as following.

Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction or impotence is one of the most prevalent men sex health problems. It can be explained as inability to have an erection or sustain it long enough for an intercourse. There are physical and psychological reasons behind the condition. Diseases such as atherosclerosis which hinder normal blood flow, chronic illnesses, certain medications, nervous disorders and a condition called Peyronie’s disease, which leaves a scar tissue in the men’s genitals are some physical causes of erectile dysfunction. Psychological factors such as stress, depression and performance anxiety or nervousness about one’s ability to perform the sexual act well are sometimes to be blamed for erectile dysfunction.

Inhibited Sexual Desire

Inhibited sexual desire is a disorder characterised by decrease in interest for sexual activity. Also referred to as loss of libido, inhibited sexual desire is a result of either psychological or physical factor. Psychological factors such as anxiety or depression and physical factors such as diabetes, medical illnesses, high blood pressure and side-effect of medications can lead to this men sex health problem.

Ejaculation Disorders

There are three types of ejaculation disorders mainly – Premature Ejaculation, Inhibited Ejaculation and Retrograde Ejaculation.  When ejaculation occurs too early, i.e. before or soon after penetration, it is known as premature ejaculation. Inhibited ejaculation is a problem in which ejaculation occurs too slowly. Retrograde ejaculation is when at the time of ejaculation, the semen goes back into the bladder rather than through the urethra and out.

Out of the three, premature ejaculation is most common sex problem in men. The main reason behind it is performance anxiety for the sexual act. The other two ejaculation disorders are caused by post traumatic stress, lacking attraction for the sexual partner and psychological factors like religious taboo for sex. Retrograde ejaculation is also a complication that is common in diabetic men (those who suffer from diabetic neuropathy). Men undergone prostrate or bladder operation may experience the disorder.
