How Is A Tattoo Done?

Getting inked means getting a permanent mark on the body with coloured pigments inserted in the skin’s top layer. A machine is used to ink on the body park. The device is just like a sewing machine with needles in it where magnet like pigments are inserted in the first layer of the skin in different patterns. While making the tattoo, a little bleeding is normal to encounter with low pain as well.

Following are some of the risks associated with tattoos:

Skin allergies: Tattoos can be done in varied colours. There are some colours including yellow, green, red and blue, which can cause rash type occurrence on the skin even after a few years of getting the tattoo.

Skin infections: If you have sensitive skin or the needle used while making the tattoo is infected, you might get skin infections. It is also possible to encounter itching around the tattooed skin for a few days. Consult a skin specialist in such cases.

Ingrown scars: Tattooing can lead to ingrown scars in the skin leading to inflammation around the tattoo.

Bloodborne diseases: The machine used while making the tattoo should be checked before getting the tattoo. Using a contaminated machine with infected blood can lead to diseases like hepatitis B, hepatitis C, etc.

The following safety precautions should be taken while getting yourself inked:

Know who the artist is: Only go to expert tattoo artists and go to clean-looking studios to avoid health-related problems due to tattooing.

Gloves on the tattoo artist: Before the tattoo artists start with the tattoo, ensure that the person washed his hands and took out a fresh pair of gloves. Cleanliness is essential in this case.

Check the equipment: Be sure to check the tattoo machine before getting started with the procedure. Using a contaminated device can lead to health woes like HIV as well, so sterilization is essential.

Tattoo Care

The following care of the tattoo should be taken to ensure a painless experience:

Keep the skin clean – The newly tattooed skin should be kept germ free. Use gentle soap on and around the skin. Avoid using hot water on the tattooed skin.

Use a gentle moisturizer – Moisturising the area is essential to avoid dry patches on the tattooed skin.

Limit sun exposure – Reduce sun exposure on the newly tattooed skin for a few days.  Prolonged sun exposure can lead to skin burn.
