Panty liners have gained popularity in the past few years and have now become a vital part of women hygeine. Vaginal discharge is a common and natural phenomenon. It depends on person to person if they want to use panty liners to keep their underwear dry and clean from the discharge during the day. Panty liners are a good way to maintain personal hygeine if changed every 3-4 hours. Basically, panty liner is a thin and absorbing pad that is used by many women nowadays to soak vaginal discharge, leakage and very light menstrual flow.

If you are not washing your hands before using a panty liner, then it defeats the whole purpose. Panty liners are a friend to hygeine, therefore it is important to wash your hands properly before and after touching the liner or your underwear, otherwise it can give birth to infections.

2. Change on time

One should not wear a panty liner for more than 5 hours at any cost. It is important to change your panty liners after every three to four hours. Wearing a fresh one after every few hours will help in keeping the area dry, clean and fresh. 

3. Use cotton and unscented panty liners

It is also suggested to buy unscented and cotton panty liners to reduce the risk of vaginal itching and other infection symptoms. In addition, prefer using cotton panty liners as they are soft and gentle. Buy the cotton stuff especially if you have a sensitive skin.

4. Don't wear while menstruating

The main purpose of panty liners is not to absorb the menstrual flow, but the vaginal discharge. Thus, you should not wear a panty liner while menstruating and use before or after your periods to soak the discharge. 

5. Do not sleep in a panty liner 

You need to give your skin flexibility to breathe, which is why it is not advised to sleep in a panty liner. Do not wear a panty liner while sleeping as it can lead to itching and sweat in the vaginal area

Sanitary pads are used when menstruating to soak blood flow. And, panty liners are used for vaginal discharge and leakages, and not when you are on your periods.
