Teas To Lower Cholesterol Levels
Here are seven Indian tea concoctions recommended by Singhwal to reduce cholesterol levels:
Green Tea
One of the best recommendations for lowering cholesterol levels is green tea. Singhwal said, “Green tea is rich in antioxidants called catechins, which may help lower Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL)cholesterol levels. It's a popular choice for those looking to improve heart health.” According to a journal by Chinese Medicine, drinking green tea has been associated with reducing the risk of developing cancer of the lungs, colon, oesophagus, mouth, stomach, small intestine, kidney, pancreas, and mammary glands.
Black Tea
Black tea, when consumed without excessive sugar or cream, can be beneficial for heart health. Singhwal added It contains compounds like theaflavins and thearubigins, which may help lower LDL cholesterol. According to a study conducted by Lipids in Health and Disease, theaflavins and thearubigins, the components found in black tea helped in lowering cholesterol levels in rats.
Hibiscus Tea
Singhwal said, “Hibiscus tea is known for its potential to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels. It contains anthocyanins and polyphenols that could contribute to these effects.” To make hibiscus tea, boil water and add hibiscus flowers to it. Let the flowers soak in water for at least 10 minutes. Strain its content and sip your healthy tea.

Cinnamon Tea
Singhwal said, “Cinnamon is thought to have cholesterol-lowering effects. It can be added to black or green tea or brewed as a standalone tea. Apart from this, it is loaded with antioxidants and can help prevent damage caused by free radicals.”
Fenugreek Tea
Singhwal added, “Fenugreek seeds contain soluble fibre, which may help reduce cholesterol absorption in the intestines. You can steep fenugreek seeds in hot water to make tea.” According to a clinical trial conducted by Prostaglandins Leukot Essent Fatty Acids, patients with coronary artery disease who regularly take fenugreek can lower their blood cholesterol levels.
