The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has upgraded ambulance services in the state by introducing 325 high-tech ambulances equipped to reach patients within 15 to 20 minutes. The goal is to provide timely healthcare to all injured or ill individuals while strengthening infrastructure across all sectors.
A Sadak Surakhya Force (SSF) has also been established in Punjab to prevent road accidents and ensure quick transportation of the injured. The SSF, comprising 5,000 personnel equipped with 144 state-of-the-art vehicles, is dedicated to protecting lives along 5,500 km of state and national highways, operating 24/7. Each vehicle is assigned a coverage area of just 30 km to ensure efficient response times. The fleet includes modern vehicles such as 116 Toyota Hilux and 28 Mahindra Scorpio.
Since the deployment of the SSF, road accidents in Punjab have decreased by 45%. To support this initiative, 325 advanced ambulances have also been deployed on the roads, ready to save lives and transport individuals to hospitals as quickly as possible in the event of serious accidents.
