Renogrit: Patanjali’s Ayurvedic Breakthrough Recognised Among Top 100 Research Papers, Becomes A Milestone For Ayurvedic Science

Ayurveda, a centuries-old practice, has been an important part of traditional medicine in India, offering holistic healing through natural remedies and lifestyle practices. While historically Ayurveda has been considered an alternative form of medicine, it is now gaining scientific validation globally.

In a groundbreaking milestone, Patanjali’s herbal formulation, Renogrit, has been featured among the top 100 research papers of 2024 in Scientific Reports, a prestigious journal under the Nature Portfolio.

"With an Impact Factor of 3.8, Scientific Reports is the 5th most-cited journal globally," a press release from Patanjali stated.

"The research paper on Renogrit has been downloaded 2,568 times, reaffirming the growing global interest in Ayurvedic medicines, not only as effective remedies for various ailments but also as a subject of scientific curiosity because it is fascinating how a simple herbal formulation can combat severe diseases without any adverse effects."

About The Study

Patanjali Renogrit

Researchers note that cisplatin, a common chemotherapy drug, can cause serious kidney damage and limit its use. According to the research paper published in Nature's Scientific Reports, Renogrit, a plant-based medicine, was examined to see if it could protect the kidneys from this side effect.

Researchers used human kidney cells and a small organism called Caenorhabditis elegans for testing. Renogrit was found to reduce kidney injury by lowering key damage markers, reducing oxidative stress, and improving mitochondrial function. It also helped control cell death processes like apoptosis, necroptosis, and inflammation, all of which play a role in kidney damage, as per the study.

Most importantly, Renogrit did not interfere with cisplatin’s ability to fight cancer, as shown in tests on multiple cancer cell types.

A Step Towards Global Acceptance Of Ayurveda

The breakthrough aligns with Patanjali’s mission of integrating traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern scientific validation. It is, in fact, a step towards global acceptance of Ayurveda.

Commenting on the milestone, Acharya Balkrishna, a key figure in Patanjali’s research initiatives, said, “The success of Renogrit is a significant step in establishing the scientific credibility of Ayurveda on a global scale.”

Renogrit’s success shows that Ayurveda, supported by research, can play a big role in modern healthcare by providing effective natural treatments for serious health conditions.
