Athletes too need to work out and inculcate a fitness regime as per their sports endeavours", said Singh.

Singh added, "From recreational sports, such as hiking, sailing and paragliding to adaptive sports programs, there's something for everyone. However, reputable gyms prioritise member safety and offer orientations and equipment demonstrations for newcomers. Also, certified trainers are available to provide guidance and ensure proper form to minimise the risk of injury.
Myth 4: Cardio Is the Only Way to Lose Weight
Singh said, "While cardiovascular exercise is an effective tool for weight loss, it's not the only option. Resistance training, such as weight training, plays a crucial role in building muscle mass, which in turn boosts metabolism and facilitates fat loss. A well-rounded fitness routine that includes both cardio and strength training yields optimal results."
Myth 4: Rest Days Are for the Weak
"It is essential to take rest days to recover and repair muscles. Overtraining can lead to burnout, injury, and diminished performance. You should consider rest days as integral components of your fitness journey, allowing your body and mind to recharge and adapt to the demands of exercise", added Singh.
According to the American Council on Exercise (ACE), signs, such as persistent muscle pain, soreness, and increased incidence of injury are some of the indicators that someone needs a rest day.

While joining a gym is a positive step towards achieving fitness goals, success is not guaranteed solely by membership.
