Be it stress or physical pains or unsettled emotions, meditation heals everything. This ancient practice can also keep you protected from negativity. Whenever you feel low or uncertain, meditate your way to calmness. In between the benefits, there are some myths related to meditation that a lot of people believe. Myth #1 Meditation should always be practiced in a silent or quiet environment

Meditation does not necessarily mean sitting in silence. You can meditate with music and there is no problem with that. The idea is to focus all your attention on your breathing pattern. You can do this while you are surrounded by people or noise. In fact, this would make your meditation challenging and effective as you can master meditation in such an environment. Myth #2 There should be no thoughts in your mind while meditating

Myth #3 Sitting while meditating is mandatory

It is not necessary that you have to sit to meditate. According to experts, you can also do walking meditation, or meditate while sitting cross-legged on a chair, sofa or bed. Apart from this, you can meditate on yoga sleep if you want. All you have to do is to relax your neck, shoulders and head to allow the body to connect to your inner self. Some studies have shown that walking meditation is as effective as sitting meditation.

Myth #4 Meditation should be done for hours

Many people think that to meditate you have to sit for hours and shut yourself down completely to meditate, which is not true. You can meditate for at least 5 minutes, it can help you get mentally charged right away. If you follow the right technique, then 15-20 minutes of meditation or walking meditation is enough.

Myth #5 Meditation is a religious or spiritual practice

Meditation is linked to yoga and not spirituality. One does meditation as a mental exercise and it doesn’t provide any religious or spiritual benefits. Thus, this is an absolute myth.
