This research was published in the journal ‘Advances In Nutrition’ where researchers reviewed various studies on the effectiveness of legumes on heart health. After the assessment, they found that daily consumption legumes reduce the risk of cardiometabolic issues and similar problems. The risk of hypertension, coronary heart diseases and cardiovascular issues decreased by 10% in people who ate different legumes regularly. While the risks remained in people who didn’t consume legumes.

“Cardiovascular disease is the world’s leading and most expensive cause of death. This study shows that an inexpensive, accessible, and common pantry staple could help change that is beans or legumes” stated the co-author of this research Hana Kahleova, MD, Ph.D., director of clinical research for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
“Simply adding more beans to our plates could be a powerful tool in fighting heart disease and bringing down blood pressure,” added Dr. Kahleova.

The researchers noted that all kinds of legumes be it beans, lentils or peas, all provide cardiovascular benefits. They are high in plant protein, fiber and some other vital micronutrients but low in cholesterol, fat and glycemic index. Thus, these are really good for securing heart health. Adding some kind of legume in your diet would prevent you from getting any heart-related disease. Start eating legumes if you don’t want to make your heart suffer.
