Cancer has become one of the most prevalent diseases across the world. A study by Our World in Data calls cancer one of the largest health problems in the world.
In an interaction with the OnlyMyHealth team, Dr Anil Heroor, HOD & Senior Consultant-Surgical Oncology, Fortis Hospital, Mumbai, importance of raising cancer awareness and lifestyle changes for prevention were discussed.
According to Dr Heroor, spreading awareness about the impact of lifestyle choices on increasing risk of cancer is important to ensure early diagnosis which can lead to better patient outcomes.
He also mentioned a few lifestyle changes to reduce the risk of cancer, like refraining from smoking, avoiding harmful UV radiation, being physically active, maintaining a healthy weight, moderating alcohol consumption, and consuming meals that focus on fruits & vegetables instead of processed food items.
