If you are a "gym bro" or have been to the gym, you are probably aware that the biceps and chest are everyone's favourite muscles to work, and no one wants to put in the effort for well-built legs.

Saturday is when most people are supposed to train their legs, and it is also when the gym is the least crowded, not because it is the weekend, but because leg day is everyone's worst nightmare. No one wants to do squats because they are painful and one of the most difficult lifts to perform. You can build strong legs without doing squats, but you won't get the health benefits that come with them.

So, if you're about to begin your transformation journey or are struggling with weak legs, let's first define leg day and then get into what happens if you skip it.

What Is Leg Day?

Leg day is when you only work on your lower body. You've probably heard of people having pull days, where they train their back and biceps together, or their chest and triceps, because these are all small muscle groups. You can train two small muscles at the same time, but when it comes to legs, it is one of the largest muscles, and your lower body is half your body. Legs are made up of quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves, and abductor muscles, and training all of these take time, which is why there is a fully dedicated  leg day.

What Happens When You Skip Leg Day?

1) Disproportionate Body

A physique is said to be well-built when it is proportionate from head to toe. When you only focus on your upper body and ignore your lower body, you end up with what  is referred to as chicken legs, in fitness. Having chicken legs gives the impression that a person has a disproportionate body.

2) Difficult In Day-to-Day Activities

Legs are one of the largest muscles in your body, and they are used in almost every activity. Walking, jogging, or participating in sports all rely on how strong your legs are. Moreover, all of your upper body weight falls on your legs, so strengthening them is essential.

3) Muscle Building Gets Hard

When you train your legs, you not only work your lower body but also improve your cardiovascular health and metabolism. Moreover, testosterone is required for building, and when you train your legs, testosterone is naturally processed. So, regardless of which supplement you use, if you do not train your legs, you will not be able to build muscle.

4) Fat Loss Takes Longer

Again, ignoring the largest muscles in your body is a problem. Let's say you want to lose weight. You're probably looking for workouts that burn the most calories. The solution is to do more lower-body exercises. When you train the largest muscles, your body requires the most energy to function, and as a result, you end up burning more calories. And, it is more effective than running on a treadmill or sweating in a sauna.
