Cold Shower
Inflammation, redness, and itching caused due to allergic reactions can be reduced with a relaxing cold shower. Cold water allows the blood vessels to constrict and block the release of histamine (a chemical found in the human body that causes allergic reactions). With reduced histamine release, you will experience lesser symptoms of skin allergies. This would reduce the effects and bring effective relief.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar possesses anti-allergic and antiseptic properties. Topical use of ACV on the affected part of the skin can reduce itching, redness, and irritation. Simply mix apple cider vinegar and water in equal parts and apply it on the affected area using a cotton pad. Do this two to three times a day to get relief.
NOTE - Never apply ACV on broken or injured skin as its acidic nature might worsen the problem. Also, buy ACV from a trusted source and opt for organic ACV with mother for best benefits.
Oatmeal bath
Another effective remedy for managing skin allergies is taking oatmeal baths. Oatmeal powder has anti-inflammatory properties that effectively lessens swelling and eases allergic reaction. You can use oatmeal in two ways. First, make oatmeal paste and apply it on the affected area. Second, add oatmeal powder in the bathtub or bucket and bathe with it.
NOTE - Do a patch test first to see if oatmeal reacts to your skin or not. Some people experience adverse reactions with the use of oatmeal. Also, the temperature of the water shouldn’t be hot as it might irritate and damage the skin.
Milk and Banana Mask
Make a paste with a ripe banana, cold milk, and neem or basil oil. Apply this paste on the affected area, leave it to dry and then wash it off with lukewarm or cold water. Neem and basil oil are anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiseptic in nature. Milk and bananas provide nourishment and moisturisation.
